課程概述 |
This course is designed to develop graduate skills in critical prose writing, with a minor emphasis on academic argumentation, and a review of bibliographic methods (MLA, CMS). Students taking this course must be prepared for a high level of participation and interaction in class. Assessment of this course is determined by MLA documentation exercises (and other exercises), class attendance and participation, conference attendance at the DFLL conference on December 5, and an annotated bibliography.

課程目標 |
The course is designed to train students in both the MLA documentation format necessary for academic writing in the discipline and in sustained academic prose, although since the course is only 1 credit, there will NOT be a long research paper. Rather, the course will help students in their other M.A. courses by giving them confidence in their argumentative logic, prose style, and formatting expertise! The aim is to give students a good sense of what the business of humanities academia is, at least as far as writing is concerned, and to give them the tools to progress in potential academic careers. |
